// FOLK ARTS AND TRADITIONS
Various objects bear witness to Alsatian culinary traditions, including a collection of moulds for anise bread or cakes from the 17th century (most of which come from the Unterlinden convent), waffle moulds from the 17th and 18th centuries, and kugelhopf moulds from the 18th and 19th centuries. Glazed earthenware from the 19th century, produced in the workshops of Soufflenheim and Betschdorf, rounds out this presentation. Alsatian furnishings, which notably include polychrome furniture and chests, with alternating decorative or floral motifs, demonstrate the richness of Alsatian folk arts and traditions. Lastly, children’s toys from the 17th to the early 20th centuries meticulously reproduce domestic interiors, offering a very precise appreciation of the furniture and utensils in use at the time.
On the ground floor, a reconstituted wine cellar in a brick-floored gallery displays wine presses, tools and sculpted casks from the 17th to the 18th centuries.
